Party season is officially here, and one best things about the festive period is shopping for a new Christmas jumper. To help assist, team HELLO! searched high and low for some of the best women's Christmas jumpers on the virtual high street - just call us Santa's little helpers.
There's no denying that the Christmas jumper has increased in popularity ever since Mark Darcy rocked his infamous reindeer knit in Bridget Jones' Diary, and now the Christmas jumper has become the biggest festive hit for fashion fans. Christmas Jumper Day falls on 12 December this year, but there's no better time than now to shop yours before the best ones sell out.
We've rounded up our favourite novelty knits, in the chicest of shades. So whether you're after a cheap and cheerful Christmas jumper or a luxe designer version you can keep for years to come, we've got just what you need.
How I chose the best Christmas jumpers
Festive designs: For this edit, I wanted to find festive novelty designs - but I wanted the knits to be stylish as well.
Affordable options: You might not want to spend hundreds of pounds on a Christmas jumper so I wanted to make sure the jumpers below are priced reasonably. I have included a couple that are a bit more expensive, just to cater to all budgets.
Washable: All of the jumpers in this edit are washable, no one wants to be visiting the dry cleaners during the busiest time of year.

River Island teamed up with illustrator Nephthys Foster to create a collection of incredible Christmas jumpers. This 'Merry' knit features a cosy crew neckline and tinsel-style sequin embellishments for a festive touch that still looks stylish.
I have this one and it looks even more fabulous in real life. Take your regular size if you're looking for a close fit, or size-up for a little more room.
Looking for a subtle Christmas jumper that you can repeat-wear all season? M&S's 'party' knit is the one. The wearable style has a relaxed fit, a crew neck, and ribbed cuffs, and it would pair perfectly with leather trousers, heeled boots, and a longline coat for a day-to-night party look.
This is a true to size fit - take your regular size.
Ok, this isn't technically a 'Christmas jumper' but it is perfect if you're wanting to show off a festive look over the holidays! Pricier than the other sweaters on this list, but it's a real investment purchase that you can wear for years to come.
John Lewis has a great selection of Christmas jumpers for the whole family, but this Sosandar snowflake knit is a favourite. An elegant twist of the classic festive knit, the relaxed style features ribbed cuffs and a round neckline for added shape, covered in a sparkling embellished snowflake design. I could see this being worn with everything from jeans to maxi dresses, or even over your PJs on Christmas morning.
The ultimate festive jumper for a boozy Christmas party – Amazon's light-up knit will definitely please the crowds. The retailer has so many fun designs to choose from, and this reindeer jumper comes in multiple colours and goes up to a 3XL.
Tu has so many fun Christmas jumpers to choose from, but this bedazzled 'Jolly' knit looks super fun for the office Christmas party, but don't come crying to me if you feel less than jolly the morning after.
Peacocks' Ho Ho Ho Christmas jumper is festive and cool. The striped sequin slogan knit will look stylish paired with a mini skirt, tights and chunky boots with a hair bow to finish, or opt for slouchy jeans and trainers for a laid-back festive ensemble.
How cute is this New Look knitted jumper? It's almost impossible to keep New Look Christmas jumpers in stock. This one is available in three different colours and it has a simple design, perfectly contrasting with the adorable sparkle across the front. It's one you'll want to wear all season.
Monsoon's cosy knitted jumper features a festive oversized bow, and the stylish print makes the knit perfect for wearing throughout winter. Style with a sequin skirt and chunky gold jewellery for an elevated finish.
Add some sparkle to your winter wardrobe with Next's Christmas knitted jumper. The red tinsel number is decorated with 'Merry Christmas' across the front, paired with a flattering slash neckline and ribbed hems. Perfect for festive celebrations, you can even pick out a matching knit for your pet!
Editor Verdict:
Oh, I'm so excited to wear my Christmas jumper! I have my go-to one from Warehouse from previous years, but this year I'll be wearing the pink Merry Xmas jumper from River Island. I would say River Island has some of the best knits of the season, largely thanks to a genius collaboration with illustrator Nephthys Foster.
If you're looking for a really affordable jumper, the supermarkets are a good place to search. Tu at Sainsbury's is always a good place to shop - and there are some really fun designs this year. You also can't beat Primark for a cheap and cheerful jumper - I love this fizz-tive one.
If you're after a Christmas jumper that doesn't look like a Christmas jumper, the embellished Next knit is so perfect and can be really dressed up - or down.
I don't think you can make the wrong choice when it comes to a Christmas jumper - have fun with it and get as much wear out of it as possible.
How to style a Christmas jumper
There are so many ways to style a Christmas jumper. It really depends on how dressy you want to go - teaming a festive knit with a midi skirt is always a good idea, or even a mini skirt and a pair of tights. I personally love to style my Christmas jumper with straight-leg jeans and boots for every day wear. If your jumper is on the embellished side, how about teaming with an evening shoe or a pair of embellished slingback kitten heels. Don't forget accessories, too! You can't beat a pair of statement earrings to wear with your Christmas jumper.
