Five-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams was enlisted to narrate Britney Spears’s memoir The Woman in Me - and the choice was absolutely genius. The My Week with Marilyn star’s narration includes on-point imitations of Justin Timberlake and Mariah Carey - and fans can’t get enough.
In The Woman in Me (Hardcover £12.50 / $22.38 on Amazon) Britney tells all about everything, from her three marriages – and subsequent splits – to the termination of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021 and her troubled relationship with her parents and sister Jamie Lynn.
But a pair of lighter moments - Britney meeting with Mariah Carey, and a hilarious telling of Justin Timberlake’s interaction with R&B star Ginuwine - have gone viral thanks to Michelle’s voicing of the anecdotes.
One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote: “Michelle Williams needs an AWARD for this Britney audiobook okay?! Her mimicking THE Mariah Carey has me weak okay?! What has me more weak is this is also how I would feel too meeting Mariah Carey.”
Another fan couldn’t get over the Justin Timberlake imitation, posting a clip and captioning it: “Nothing can prepare you for these 15 seconds of michelle williams doing a justin timberlake impression as written by britney spears.”
Not since Prince Harry reading out his own book Spare have we seen such a talked-about audiobook. HELLO!'s Director of Lifestyle & Commerce Leanne Bayley is a fan: "I've never listened to a celebrity memoir as an audiobook, but I was intrigued by Michelle Williams being the narrator for Britney Spears's The Woman In Me, so I decided to give it a listen. And I'm so glad I did!
“She's just amazing, and weirdly sounds like Britney. I am listening to every word, and she has me hooked (obviously Britney's story helps as well!) but Michelle Williams is my standout star of this book, fo shiz."

Why did Michelle Williams narrate Britney's The Woman in Me book?
While Britney herself voices a brief introduction to her autobiography, the full book is narrated by Michelle. As to why the award-winning actor agreed to provide a voice, literally, for the pop icon, Michelle simply said in a statement: “I stand with Britney.”
Many are asking why Britney Spears didn’t narrate her own autobiography. “This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it,” the Toxic singer told People. “Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook.
“I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it.”
Britney meanwhile is celebrating the success of her new book, which has topped the bestseller list, writing on social media: “It’s happening !!! My book is the highest selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day 1 !!! Thank you to the fans who have been so supportive !!! Love you all !!! #TheWomaninMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster."
