King Abdullah II of Jordan and his wife Queen Rania became the latest high-profile travellers visiting sunny Spain this week, kicking off their summer holidays on the island of Majorca.
The couple and their children opted for casual tourist outfits, although their arrival by private jet and the dozens of security members and staff who surrounded them gave away their VIP status. According to reports, the family's holiday entourage numbers over 100, with the group travelling in 24 cars and two yachts.
Like any other hardworking couple with youngsters in tow, during the first leg of their summer voyage the king and his wife have enjoyed some of the activities common to any hard-earned vacation. While Abdullah and their three children frolicked on the beach, Queen Rania took time out to catch up on a little shopping in the island's capital Palma. Among her holiday purchases were swimsuits, lingerie and sandals.
Though this if the first time the Jordanian royals have holidayed on the Balearic island – they are set to continue their voyage by sailing to the South of France – it may not be the last. As Rania browsed the boutiques of high-end Jaime III street, she was heard telling well-wishers: "I love Majorca."
