Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie stepped into her role as United Nations Goodwill Ambassador this past weekend, visiting Chechen refugee camps in Russia.

Angelina, who has travelled to Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Pakistan and Thailand as part of her duties with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, spoke with families living at the camps, located in north Caucasus near the Chechnya border.

The Oscar-winning star, who is set to receive a world citizenship award from the UN next month, is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most generous celebrities in Hollywood. During her four-day visit to Russia, she gave $20,000 to Moscow's Morozov Children's hospital, which she toured on Thursday.

Meanwhile, her proposed forest conservation project in Cambodia, the birthplace of her toddler son Maddox, was approved by the country's government earlier this month. The endeavour is part of a $1.5 million donation the 27-year-old beauty will make over the next five years.
