Less is more at Paris swimwear collections

They may not be the most appropriate garments for doing laps of the hotel pool, but the eensy weensy swimwear creations debuting on the Paris catwalk were wickedly fit anyway.

Issey Miyake designer Naoki Takizawa offered up several sensual variations on the theme, including bikinis paired with web-like vests which focused attention on the sassy cut.

The lace-over look surfaced at Gucci, where Tom Ford gathered fabric beneath bootlace-thin straps criss-crossed over tanned bods, and Dolce & Gabbana, where Naomi showed off a series of minimalist threads. A similar echo was to be found at Ungaro, where "six-pack" slashes across the midriff lifted simple one-pieces into a whole new league.

Naughty but oh-so-nice was a prevalent theme throughout swimwear for 2004, where clever detailing stretched against sun-kissed skin, promising a sizzling vacation experience whatever the time of year you choose to travel.
