Rumours that David Beckham might return to live in England this year have been firmly quashed, after his wife announced she is moving to Madrid to be with him. Until now Victoria has been based at the family's home in Hertfordshire, but she will soon be taking sons Romeo and Brooklyn to make a new life in the Spanish capital.
"The time is now right for the children to move to Madrid and we are all looking forward to it enormously," said the singer. "It is a fantastic city with wonderful people and David and I are looking forward to strengthening our links with both. We are all very excited."
Her decision comes after a difficult year for the couple, as allegations that David had an affair filled the press. The England skipper has also been criticised for his performance at new club Real Madrid, but speculation he would move to Chelsea at the end of the season is evaporating after the athlete reiterated his desire to stay on in Spain.
"I have a long-term commitment to Real and my life in Spain," said the handsome midfielder. "I've been here for one season and it feels like the job's not done yet. The support that I have received from the fans has been amazing and I would like to see them repaid with success. Victoria shares my vision of our life here together."
