For Hollywood hunk George Clooney and soccer star Michael Owen, having just one sun-drenched hideaway isn't quite enough. That's why each of them has splashed out on two new houses in their favourite Mediterranean countries.
The inimitable Mr Clooney has snapped up the two properties on either side of his 18th century mansion in Italy. The villas, which overlook the picturesque Lake Como, will give the actor more privacy from over-enthusiastic fans who have been camping outside his European bolthole.
Michael Owen has meanwhile forked out £800,000 on a pair of villas in the Spanish resort town of Fuengirola. The England striker has bought one house for his parents Terry and Janette, while the other will be used by his siblings Karen, Lesley and Terry Jr.
Both the properties, which are just a stone's throw from the beach, are equipped with private pools and Jacuzzis. And the footie ace's decision to buy in Spain will fuel speculation that he himself may be moving to the country. In recent days the press has been awash with reports that Michael will be joining his England team-mate David Beckham at Real Madrid.
