It's no big secret that George Clooney has a passion for all things Italian. And it would seem that the feeling is mutual: the handsome actor was mobbed by fans while filming a new advertisement for motor giant Fiat near his home on Lake Como.
The 43-year-old was provided with an escort from local police officers to ensure the shoot didn't get held up. But he did find time for a chat with one young fan when there was a break in filming.
George has become something of a local hero since he bought a mansion overlooking Lake Como two years ago. His new neighbours say they have been won over by the easy-going charm of the actor, who's been spotted playing basketball with children in the village and helping a grandmother to carry her shopping.
But being popular can also cause problems, and the Kentucky-born star had to beef up security at his home to stop over-zealous fans from gaining entry. He even bought the two adjacent properties after groups of George-maniacs started pitching tents outside his Italian bolthole. "He's good and kind with everyone," said local man Giodano Saibene. "All you have to do is not intrude on him."
