We all know about Jodie Kidd's love of speed - she's the model who drives fast cars and is often to be seen galloping across a polo field.
But a lot of her life is spent enjoying more passive speed as she's flown around the world en route to her modelling assignments. In this interview, recently-engaged Jodie tells us how she stays sane and gorgeous when much of her life is spent on board planes.
How often do you fly?
“I'm travelling pretty much constantly. We have a family home in Barbados so I'm there lots, and obviously I'm in Paris, Milan and New York for the shows. I've recently spent quite a bit of time visiting Ireland and also Australia."
How do you pack – light, or everything?
"After so many years travelling I’m an expert packer! How much I take with me totally varies on where I’m travelling to and why, but overall I’ve honed it down to the essentials and always pack on the lighter side."
What are your essential travel tips?
"One thing I have learned is to take a really good wash bag on the flight. I take Evian spray and Prescriptives Flight Cream on board (in-flight moisturiser is essential). I try to sleep on the flight – I have a glass of wine, wrap up in a pashmina and take a nap, or listen to my Ipod. It’s really important to get into the local time zone asap, so the first thing I do when I arrive is take a shower - whether to refresh me in order to keep going, or simply to relax before going to bed."
And pre-holiday beauty tips?
"I want my time away to be maximised so I make sure before I travel I have a bikini line wax, manicure and pedicure, and I love Crème de la Mer facials!"
Which are your favourite airport shops?
"I love shopping. I think Accessorise is fantastic – I always get my flip flops there. I’ll pop into the Beauty Studio at the airport to pick up MAC products and Crème de la Mer moisturiser and I love all designer shops - in fact, all shops hold excitement for me!"
What would be your dream holiday?
"My dream holiday is doing absolutely nothing! Because I travel so much for work anyway, when I travel for me I like to relax 100 per cent so lying on a beach in the Maldives is perfect."
What’s your best holiday memory?
"I would say my top five destinations are New York, Barbados, India, Australia, and the Maldives."
