England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney was enjoying something of a busman's holiday when he swapped one sport for another during a trip to Portugal's luxury Vale do Lobo resort.
The 19-year-old, who is currently on a break with team-mates during a pre-season training camp, polished up his golf skills during a round with fellow United player Wes Brown at the 360-acre course in the Algarve.
And while not sharing Wayne's enthusiasm for the green, fiancée Coleen McLoughlin was apparently content to fine tune one of her own favourite hobbies - shopping.
Located just 20 minutes from Faro, Vale de Lobo is flanked by two national parks of outstanding natural beauty and five kilometres of golden beaches and dramatic sandstone cliffs. Long hours of sunshine – it receives 3,000 hours a year – and two courses lined with almond, fig and olive trees make it a perfect golfing getaway.
