It's a long way from Middle Earth, but Lord Of The Rings beauty Liv Tyler looked perfectly at home in Moscow recently where she was photographed taking in the local sights. Liv, who was in the Russian city to promote Vichy cosmetics, was practically dressed for her tourist excursion in a chic mac, black flats and A-list size shades. With a retro camera slung over her shoulder she set off on a walkabout with a trusty pair of bodyguards in tow.
The actress, who is married to Brit rocker Royston Langdon, would have found plenty of sights to snap. The historic Russian capital is where much of the nation's turbulent history has been played out, and Red Square and the imposing walls of the Kremlin are immediately recognisable, as are the multi-coloured domes of St Basil's cathedral. Another sight not to be missed is the Kremlin's magnificent collection of jewels and Faberge eggs.
Those with time for a spot of shopping should be sure to stop by GUM. The ornate state department store takes up almost all of the eastern side of Red Square and is brimming with designer outlets. For culture vultures, a visit to the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts is a must, and at night head for the Bolshoi Theatre for a stunning evening of ballet from the world-famous company.
Celebrities in need of a good night's sleep and luxury comfort book into Baltschug Kempinski, a stylish hotel across the river from the Red Square. David Bowie and Michael Jackson are just some of the high profile guests to have stayed there. Meanwhile the Ararat Park Hyatt has a terrific central location. Enjoy vodka shots in the fabulous conservatory lounge while drinking in the panoramic view of the Moscow skyline.
