Angelina Jolie took time out from filming A Mighty Heart in India this weekend to enjoy a little watery R and R with partner Brad Pitt and their kids. The pair treated their adopted children Maddox, five, and 18-month-old Zahara, to a trip out into Mumbai harbour, where the Tomb Raider star kept a careful eye on her brood.

On the popular tourist cruise the actress, who is in town to film the story of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, would have enjoyed spectacular views of the landmark Gateway to India archway, as well as the five-star Taj Mahal Palace hotel where the family are currently based.

Keen to share as much of their Indian experience as possible with the children, Angelina and Brad have been spotted several times taking in the sights with the youngsters. They were snapped riding in one of the city's ubiquitous rickshaws, and last week strolled along the lively seafront together. "We are excited to have this chance for our children to learn about India's wonderful culture and history," said Angelina.

Brad, who is co-producing the film, is equally enthusiastic about making the most of their family time in India. The 43-year-old star even made a 14,000-mile round-trip to attend the premiere of his latest film, Babel, in Los Angeles, hopping a plane immediately afterwards to return to Angelina and the children.

And there are plenty of cultural outings to be shared, such as the multi-media Discovery of India exhibition at the Nehru Centre, which focuses on the nation's story. Atmospheric Crawford Market, housed in a Gothic building in the bustling centre of the city, gives an insight into the everyday life of Mumbai residents, while an amble through the gardens surrounding the 300-year-old St Thomas' Cathedral offers a more restful urban experience.
