After a long day of playing rugby, wine tasting, and a trip on a speedboat, it’s no wonder the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge decided to stay at a five-star lodge on the shores of a New Zealand lake.It was their first night away from Prince George on their Royal Tour of New Zealand and Australia, and they reportedly stayed at Matakauri Lodge, at Lake Wakatipu which is a short drive from Queenstown.

The lodge boasts twelve luxury suites, and People magazine reported that William and Kate stayed in the owner’s cottage, a four-bedroom lodge which is designed for families or friends traveling together. With uninterrupted lake and mountain views, the Owner’s cottage has fireplaces, a private Jacuzzi situated on the courtyard, and an outdoors BBQ area.

Each lodge at the resort has its own private terrace which look out on the dramatic lakeside views, and the resort was recently named one of the top 101 hotels in the world.

It also offers a spa for visiting guests, which is located on the edge of a pine forest and offers a range of treatments.

Prince George stayed with his nanny Maria Borrallo at Government House in Wellington, before being reunited with his parents.

When a well-wisher presented William with a shawl for Prince George during the couple's visit to the town of Cambridge, the Duke told her she may need to make another one soon.

Their stay came the same day as William started speculation that Kate was pregnant again.
