Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon sell their Bel Air mansion

March 10, 2015

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have closed the sale of their Bel Air mansion. The estate fetched the grand sum of $9million – approximately £6million. The 13,000-square-foot home is an eclectic mix of styles with a Moroccan-style room — where Nick reportedly proposed – a formal living room and grand "Aspen" room reminiscent of a high-end ski resort. Along with seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, the luxury home boasts charming features such as seven fireplaces, a luxe stone-floored entertainment lounge with a field-stone fireplace and bar.

A music studio, an indoor basketball court, a gym, a home theatre and games room can also be found inside the three-storey property. The charming gated estate, with Hamptons-style black shutters, a red front door, high ceilings, wood floors and French doors, also features a putting green, a swimming pool, a spa, parking for more than 20 vehicles and room for a tennis court within its grounds. It even offers sweeping canyon, city, mountain and ocean views that stretch across Beverly Hills and as far south as Laguna Beach.

The couple, who according to numerous reports separated last year and have filed for divorce, bought the rambling mansion in April 2009 for $6.975million from accomplished audio engineer and producer Allen Sides. The three-acre estate had previously been bought from Charlie's Angels star and 1980s poster queen Farrah Fawcett for $2.7million. A New York City-based doctor and his wife are understood to be the new owners of the house. Mariah and Nick married in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas after six weeks of dating. They welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe, now three years old, in 2011.
