Geri Halliwell and Christian Horner's wedding destination

May 20, 2015

Geri Halliwell said "I do" in a charming 19th-century church in Woburn, Bedfordshire on Friday 15 May, and to complete her fairytale country wedding, the former Spice Girl set off alongside her prince charming Christian Horner to the majestic and historic Woburn Abbey. There, a giant marquee overlooking glorious parkland and gardens awaited the newlyweds and their guests, which included former Baby Spice Emma Bunton, Amanda Holden, Myleene Klass, Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French.

The stunning estate on the border of Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire is the ancestral home of the 15th Duke of Bedford and his family – it has been the home to the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for almost 400 years.

As well as interiors fit for royalty, with marble finishes, floral decorations and gorgeous lighting, the royal country home boasts more than 28 acres of award-winning gardens and 3,000 acres of deer park.

No doubt after much deliberation, the couple opted for a marquee, making the most of the estate's sprawling grounds and its lush green views.

Geri and her Formula 1 boss hubby had plenty of choice when it came to what they wanted for their big day – the Sculpture Gallery at Woburn Abbey, originally constructed as an orangery for the fifth Duke of Bedford, an informal Safari Lodge set in Woburn Safari Park or the luxurious surroundings of The Woburn Hotel all provide the perfect back drop for a special occasion.

Two executive cottages and five cottage suites, with original exterior brickwork and 300-year-old wooden beams, would have made the perfect end to the big day.

After all the celebrations, the bride and groom and some of their guests may well have retired to the nearby Woburn Hotel, which offers just 55 contemporary and individually designed bedrooms that reflect the character and historical setting of the abbey.
