Giovanna and Tom Fletcher have been in Sardinia for the wedding of Gi's sister, which took place on Saturday. And the musician and author duo have made sure that they made the most of their time on the Mediterranean island, which lies between Italian Sicily and French Corsica, lapping up the sunshine and enjoying the breathtaking vistas of its dazzling coastline.
The second-largest island in the Mediterranean sea has been a long-standing favourite with celebrities, attracting everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow, Heidi Klum and Leonardo DiCaprio to the Danish royals. Most recently, Beyoncé Knowles, Jay Z and their daughter Blue Ivy made a stop here on their luxury yacht holiday that saw them also visit Capri and the Amalfi Coast.Family fun was at the top of the agenda for the Fletchers too. Giovanna – who is currently expecting the couple's second baby – and Tom headed to the beach with young Buzz and her brother Mario Falcone to have a splash in the sea. "Fun times!!" Giovanna captioned a snap of the boys along the shore.
The wedding party were also clearly delighted at waking to sea views and the sunrise, posting more than one snap of the impressive view. One shot also showed McBusted frontman Tom holding Buzz as the early risers waited for the day to break.
Another photograph captured what Tom called a "Pretty special sunrise today", featuring a picture-perfect bright orange sun in the sky.
As well as the heavenly Costa Smeralda on the east coast, Sardinia boasts the rugged mountainous interior Barbagia region popular for hiking. Its rugged landscape is dotted with thousands of "nuraghi" – ruins of mysterious Bronze-age stone structures shaped like beehives.The southern capital, Cagliari, with its medieval quarter called Castello, 14th-century palaces and a 13th-century cathedral, is also worth a visit, as well as the quaint towns of Sassari and Alghero.
Tom discovered the wonderfully dolce range of Sardinian flavours on offer on the island – and that was just for breakfast. "So this is an Italian breakfast," wrote the 30-year-old alongside a picture of tables covered with delicious-looking cakes and tarts.
