Mila Kunis has surprised her parents by renovating the Los Angeles home they have lived in for the past 24 years. The actress treated her "incredible" mum and dad, Elvira and Mark Kunis, in the latest episode of the online series My Houzz, which was executive produced by her husband Ashton Kutcher.

Speaking in the video about why she wanted to surprise her parents, Mila explained: "They've done so many things for my brother and I, and so I desperately want to give them something that I think they deserve." The mum-of-two added that her parents will "never" move out of their current home as they so many friends there, so it was important to renovate the condominium so it has a better layout.

Mila Kunis described her parents' condo as looking like "Miami Vice circa 1994"

Mila explained that the problem with the previous design was that her family "all descends upon the family room, kitchen and dining room area", however whoever is in the kitchen is "isolated" by the "weird walls". To combat the problem the 33-year-old teamed up with a designer who is part of the Houzz community to transform the condo into a bright, modern space the entire family can enjoy – all while nine months pregnant with her second child Dimitri.

"By using Houzz's technology, I was able to pull off an incredible surprise remodel for them while nine months pregnant. I did everything from behind my computer: found an amazing designer, shared ideas and bought everything from the Houzz Shop. It feels really good to see my parents so happy in their beautiful, new space." Mila said.

Mila's parents were thrilled with their home renovation

Mila's parents were understandably thrilled by the renovation, despite admitting that they were "scared" about what changes might be in store. The actress' mum Elvira was moved to tears by the work the team had done, which prompted Mila to say that all of their hard work had been worth it. It is not the first time Mila and Ashton have participated in the My Houzz show; the actor previously starred in the series pilot where he secretly remodelled the basement of his childhood home in Iowa as a gift to his mother.
