The Museum of Ice Cream in Los Angeles was the place to be over the weekend, with Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Gwyneth Paltrow all spotted paying a visit with their families. The celebrities all became the envy of fans after exploring the rainbow-coloured pop-up – which has proved so popular that tickets have completely sold out.

STORY: These photos of the Museum of Ice Cream will make you want to book the next flight to LA

Kim Kardashian was the first to visit with her daughter North, with the mother-daughter duo believed to be filming scenes for Keeping up with the Kardashians. The kitsch and colourful décor would provide the perfect backdrop for the reality show; in one photo shared on The Museum of Ice Cream Instagram account Kim can be seen answering the "Ice Cream Hotline" and holding one of the retro pink phones that line the walls of the entrance. "You never know… maybe @kimkardashian and North will be on the other line when you visit MOIC!" the post was captioned.

Meanwhile Gwyneth Paltrow paid a visit to celebrate both Mother's Day and her daughter Apple's birthday with her ex-husband Chris Martin, Apple, 13, and Moses, 11. Sharing a family photo standing in front of a colourful striped wall, the actress told fans: "Best Apple's birthday/ Mother's Day EVER at the @museumoficecream. SO FUN."

Gwyneth was not the only famous face who paid a visit to the museum for Mother's Day; Katy Perry also took her own mum Mary to tour the attraction, and later revealed that she had experienced one of the museum's most famous and fun exhibits – the sprinkle pool. Sharing a photo of herself immersed in the pool, which is filled with one hundred million ice cream sprinkles, Katy wrote: "Might have to go to the Dr tomorrow and have sprinkles pulled out of my ear holes. Will update you tomorrow. #museumoficecream #extra."

The museum opened to the public in April and is a feast for all the senses with scratch and sniff walls, larger-than-life gummy bears and some interesting ice cream facts from "ice cream fairy" Seth Rogen when you answer the "Ice Cream Hotline". There are also ten different installations throughout the museum including a California-themed room that includes whimsical murals such as palm trees, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Venice Beach boardwalk. The launch follows on from the equally popular New York pop up in 2016, and we still have our fingers crossed it will make its way across to the UK very soon!
