Gucci is gearing up to unveil a range of home decor items.The Italian brand's creative director Alessandro Michele has long had a penchant for flora and fauna, as evident in his couture and ready-to-wear fashion. Now, the company is about to extend garden themes into its first homeware line which, launches in September.

Aficionados will be able to buy wallpaper, cushions, chairs and porcelain accessories from the brand's Gucci Decor collection. The ceramics will be produced by Richard Ginori, the iconic Florentine company founded in 1735, rescued from bankruptcy by bosses at the fashion house four years ago. Standout pieces include a bright floral jacquard vanity seat with silver detailing, wooden high-backed chairs with lacquered, frames and padded seats covered in various animal motifs. There is also a line of eye-catching cushions trimmed in tassels and clad in velvets and jacquards.

"The idea is not to prescribe a particular decorative look, but to provide elements that allow for living spaces to be customised," a representative for the company, according to WWD. Michele, now creative director of Richard Ginori, has created porcelain items featuring his favourite bees, butterflies and cockerel heads in 3D. Other items feature a green and white Herbarium decoration. There are also porcelain scented-candle holders, and incense holders and the designer has developed four scents - for both candles and incense: Inventum, Fumus, Herbosum, and Esotericum.

Other covetable items include decorative folding screens with similarly striking patterns and prints some of which revive designs originally seen in Gucci's fashion collections. The items won't have a dedicated area within the Gucci boutiques but will instead become "simply another way to dress in Gucci, they will be spread throughout Gucci store interiors, integrated with clothing, accessories and shop fittings". Gucci Decor will launch in September in the brand's flagship stores and online.
