Edward Norton has splashed out $11.8million (around £8.9m) on an incredible home on the Malibu coast – and it looks like something straight out of Grand Designs. The Fight Club star has purchased architect John Lautner's 'Stevens' House', which has a distinctive structure designed to resemble waves.

The 3,366 square foot home is located on 37 feet of sandy beach and has a large outdoor deck, private swimming pool and grassy garden area. Edward's new home was built in 1968 and has become a California State Cultural Landmark, which is instantly recognisable on the Malibu coastline.

With five bedrooms and five bathrooms the property is a spacious retreat for Edward, who was most recently seen on screen in the 2016 film Collateral Beauty. It is set behind guarded gates in the Malibu Colony, where the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Jackie Collins also have homes. Edward has an impressive portfolio; he has a smaller home at nearby Big Rock Beach, another house in the heart of Los Angeles and a luxury Manhattan penthouse. The unique property has a large covered lap swimming pool at the side of the house. It leads directly onto the large beach deck at the front of the property, where Edward and his wife Shauna can sunbathe and admire the views out across the ocean.

The architectural home is built from wood and concrete, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer views into both the rear garden and the beach. Currently the décor is fairly muted, with wooden furnishings, a large round dining table and seating for four.

The living room area is bright and spacious, and looks out onto the beach along with the property's private swimming pool. With tiled flooring, an open fireplace and space for a large sofa and armchairs, there is plenty of potential for Edward to add his own personal touches to his new home.

Wood features heavily throughout the home, which was designed by famed architect John Lautner. Wooden panels line the walls and ceilings, and there are wooden fitted cupboards in the kitchen. There is currently a corner seating and table area, large fridge-freezer, oven and other fitted appliances.

There are five bedrooms in the spacious property, including this incredible master suite which looks out over the beach from huge floor-to-ceiling windows. Like the rest of the property, wooden panels line the walls and ceiling, and a large king size bed sits at the middle of the room.

Edward's new home also has five bathrooms. This suite is fitted with a double vanity and sink area, separate shower cubicle and dressing table where Edward or his film producer wife Shauna can get ready.
