There's nothing quite like going to a spa for some pampering and relaxation. But one spa takes the indulgent experience to a whole new level as it is located on its very own secluded island in the Maldives – and it looks incredible!

The Spa Island was opened by Cheval Blanc Randheli resort in 2014, and is the only island of its kind in the world. Accessible exclusively via the resort's Maldivian dhoni boat, the tropical island is dedicated to being a "private restoration paradise" with specialised Guerlain treatments, yoga classes, meditation, a fresh water swimming pool and of course, the stunning white sand beaches on offer.

The entire island has been designed to offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience to its visitors, with treatment beds that overlook the crystal clear azure sea below, along with outdoor treatment spaces that allow guests to be preened and pampered with only the sound of the ocean to distract them.

Each treatment is customised to suit the visitor, and there are some treatments – such as the after-diving experience – that are designed especially for guests at the far-flung holiday destination. New treatments that have been added to the menu include an Extended Sensorial Experience for couples - the ideal honeymoon indulgence - and the Sun Ritual, which nourishes and soothes the skin before or after a day in the sun.

Lucky guests are able to spend the day on the Spa Island taking advantage of the facilities on offer and tucking into a healthy lunch before floating back to the Randheli Island in time to see the sunset.

Sound tempting? A stay at Cheval Blanc Randheli will set you back from $1,750 (approx. £1,346) per night based on double occupancy, including breakfast and all taxes and charges. Spa treatments cost from $90 (around £69) for the Addictive Rituals by Guerlain to $2,690 (around £2,148) for 12 sessions of the Guerlain Slimming treatments. Time to start saving!
