Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are settling into life together at Nottingham Cottage after announcing their engagement at the end of November. But over the past 18 months they have enjoyed a transatlantic relationship between the UK and Canada, along with various other romantic and exotic destinations. As excitement mounts over the royal wedding, we take a look back at where Harry and Meghan's romance blossomed.
Botswana:
The couple enjoyed a romantic getaway together after only a couple of dates, when the Suits star jetted out to Botswana to join Harry, who was spending the summer working on conservation projects in Africa. "It was, I think, about three, maybe four, weeks later that I managed to persuade her to come and join me in Botswana, and we camped out with each other under the stars," Harry said in their engagement interview.
Prince Harry and Meghan returned to the country in August 2017 as part of their three week holiday, when they are also said to have paid a visit to Victoria Falls in Zambia. The Prince also sourced the main stone for Meghan's engagement ring from the country, so it is clearly a place that is close to both of their hearts.
Norway:
In January 2017, Harry is reported to have taken Meghan to the tiny Norwegian town of Tromvik, a secluded place with no restaurants, cafés or even a shop. The couple are said to have stayed at the luxurious Tromvik Lodge, an idyllic spot that would have offered them panoramic views of the ocean and Northern Lights, where rooms cost £298 per night.
Jamaica:
Harry and Meghan both jetted into Jamaica in March 2017 for his close friend Tom 'Skippy' Inskip's wedding. The pair stayed at the Round Hill Hotel and Villas, a lavish resort set on a 110-acre site in Montego Bay, where they stayed in a luxury villa. It was the perfect spot for a romantic break, and the pair were spotted relaxing together on the beach and having fun at the wedding.
Canada:
The couple have spent a lot of time together in Toronto, Canada, where Meghan lived while filming the TV show Suits. As well as giving them the chance to spend time together in privacy at Meghan's home, Toronto was also the place where they made their first high-profile appearance, at the Invictus Games which Harry was hosting in the city in September.
London:
Not only is it where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to make their marital home, but London is another city where the couple's relationship blossomed. The pair have enjoyed several low key dates at Soho House and the theatre, and were spotted picking up their Christmas tree at Battersea Park together last Christmas.
