A luxurious Maldives resort has been named as the most Instagrammable hotel in the world – and it's easy to see why! With its beautiful over-water villas and idyllic setting with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, the Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas is picture-perfect.

The resort received the accolade from Luxury Travel Advisor magazine, who were won over by the resort's "pristine stretch of private beach". And the romantic setting has already won over celebrity fans Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who proposed on the beach at the resort during a holiday in December 2011. "There was no big grand speech or anything, it was just very lovely and sweet," Chrissy said of the special moment.

Anantara Kihavah Maldives has been named the most Instagrammable hotel in the world

The hotel has plenty to keep guests entertained; with four restaurants, including underwater dining, and the opportunity to snorkel or go diving. There is also an overwater spa and cooking school, while a children's club will keep little ones entertained.

Karl Webster, cluster director of PR and communications for the property, said: "The underwater restaurant, Sea and the recently launched overwater bar, observatory and night sky viewing deck known as Sky, helps position Anantara Kihavah as a breathtaking property to photograph and show off to friends through social channels. It really does have that wow factor."

However, if you want to up your Insta-game with a trip to the resort, it will cost you. A double room starts at £1,173 per night, including breakfast but no other meals. Guests are also obliged to take the resort's seaplane transfer from the international airport at Malé, which costs £802 return when shared, or £11,234 for exclusive use.
