Have you ever wondered how the Beckhams spend a holiday? You may be picturing exotic yacht trips and lavish ski breaks - but Romeo Beckham has proven that you don't need to leave the UK to enjoy a dreamy getaway. Luxurious accommodations, amazing food and unforgettable views are all just hours away in the heart of the Lake District.

After Romeo visited the Lake District with his girlfriend Mia Regan at the end of 2022, I needed to check out his romantic minibreak destination for myself. So I headed to the family-run In The Vale retreat to stay in one of five deluxe cabins situated within the Lake District's National Park.

First Impressions of In The Vale

Soaking in the wood-fired hot tub is the ultimate way to unwind

Arriving at In The Vale, we were instantly blown away by the breathtaking scenery everywhere we looked. Four miles from Keswick town centre and deep into the Lake District, there was an instant sense of peacefulness, with the five cabins overlooking the stunning Lake District fells.

The owners of In The Vale deliberately leave the WiFi switched off, encouraging an escape from the outside world to sit back and take in the scenery.

The attention to detail is clear from the moment you arrive at In The Vale. Each of the handmade cabins has its own bespoke design, with a stone path and a stylish sign displaying its Lake District-themed cabin name. While all the lodges sit next to one another, they feel totally private, with purposely positioned fencing that makes you feel separated from your lodge neighbours.

The cabins at In The Vale

We stayed at 'The Red' cabin. Upon entering, it was immediately clear why Romeo Beckham had chosen In The Vale for this romantic retreat. Each luxury lodge has its own private patio, fire pit and wood-fired hot tub for two. And is there anything more relaxing than sitting back in a hot tub whilst admiring a scenic countryside setting?

The cosy cabins are perfect for couples

Every In The Vale cabin has its own unique features, from stylish tree trunk beds to handmade coffee tables carefully crafted from logs. Complete with a modern wet room with a waterfall shower, an open plan kitchen and the most comfortable king-sized bed, the cabin was kitted out with little luxuries that made you feel just as content with the idea of staying in as going out.

Each family member plays their role at In The Vale in making the guests feel welcome, and it was clear from the get-go that thoughtful touches had been put into every aspect of the stay. From towels and robes embroidered with our cabin name to fresh homemade cookies on arrival, the homely touches perfectly complemented the cosy setting.

Our favourite part of the cabins? The large glass doors that opened up to take in the stunning view of the Lake District fells. To top off the breathtaking scenery, all five lodges overlook green fields as sheep and lambs roam around - and the picture-perfect backdrop can be enjoyed from the comfort of your bed.

Things to do around In The Vale

Whether you're a pro hiker or want to take in the amazing Lake District views without breaking a sweat, there are plenty of walks in the area to take in the sights, including options that are suitable for kids and dogs.

We were told that The Surprise View is a must-see, and it did not disappoint. Situated on the edge of a hilltop which can be accessed on foot or by car, the beauty spot overlooks the Derwentwater River that's iconic to the Lake District - and the panoramic sight is just too amazing to miss.

For those who want to take a popular Lake District walk that isn't too challenging, the famous Catbells walk is a great option with stunning views everywhere you turn, and you can even travel to the bottom of the fell by boat.

If walking isn't on your holiday agenda, Keswick town is filled with shops and cafes, and if you're looking to make a night of it, the centre of the town has cosy pubs and lively bars to enjoy every night of the week.

Places to eat around In The Vale

If you're looking for a hotspot to enjoy some great food before kicking off your night, The Round is a must-visit. Known for its famous burgers and crinkle-cut chips, the laid-back restaurant is in the centre of Keswick, with a fun and friendly atmosphere.

And for a classy but chilled vibe that's perfect for date night or a girl's night out? Derwent Walker Cafe Bar and Restaurant in Keswick town centre is a dream for cocktail lovers, with their speciality being Espresso Martinis. You'll find Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Orange and After Eight options on the menu, and they make for a heavenly dessert after enjoying the restaurant's delightful small plates.

My final verdict on In The Vale

I had the most relaxing stay at In The Vale, from the peaceful setting to the picturesque views, and the meticulous attention to detail that had been put into our stay.

The scenic backdrop can be admired from your bed

The homely vibe and the luxurious hot tub ensured that the trip would be just as special in winter as it would the summer, and being a short car ride from the centre of Keswick meant that we could switch between the still, remote setting to a lively vibe as we pleased.

In The Vale is definitely the perfect place for couples, but whether you're in need of a romantic getaway with a breathtaking backdrop or a relaxing retreat to prompt your creativity, the deluxe cabins really are the ultimate place to go for a dreamy staycation.

Rates start from £330 for two nights. To book, visit Holidaycottages.co.uk, or to see more photos visit In The Vale.
