Wine and dine at Gordon Ramsay's revamped Savoy Grill
The iconic Savoy Grill inside London's Savoy Hotel has undergone a beautiful transformation ahead of its 125th anniversary – and it's not just the interiors that have been revamped. Of course, the historic Swarovski chandeliers, Churchill's favourite clock and the original layout of the tables have remained to honour the restaurant's long history, but there's now a nod to 1920s Hollywood with bold colours and sumptuous materials after Gordon Ramsay and the Restaurant Group teamed up with multi-award-winning design studio Afroditi.
Expect to see deep-red velvet-lined booths, blush silk-lined walls and abundant use of metallic and glass accents. There are also several bespoke features such as handmade feather tiles, the scalloped pewter bar, and specially commissioned artwork by celebrated fashion illustrator Thom Botwood.
Another new feature is the exclusive Wine Experience Room, where hundreds of bottles of the world's finest wines are on display. Guests will have the opportunity to experience the rarest and most exclusive wines in the Grill's cellar – overseen by the restaurant's Head of Wine and Sommeliers. And of course, there is still the popular Chef's Table, where diners can enjoy an immersive culinary experience.
While there's no denying Savoy Grill's revamp looks incredible, it's really all about the food and service. A new menu curated by head chef, Michael Turner, features opulent dishes like Louet-Feisser Oysters and Arnold Bennett souffle, a nod to the famous omelette Arnold Bennett – but he hasn't forgotten about the classics such as Lobster thermidor, Duck à l'orange and Gordon Ramsay's signature Beef Wellington – which is truly worth every penny of its £65 price tag and literally melts in your mouth. Divine!
The service from the attentive staff led by Restaurant Director, Thierry Tomasin, is also first class, and they will go above and beyond to make sure your experience at Savoy Grill is nothing short of perfect – exactly as it should be.
