Savannah Guthrie is settling back into the groove of hosting NBC's TODAY more than three months after her mom Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

Savannah, 54, spent the first two months after her 84-year-old mother's apparent kidnapping dividing her time between family in Tucson, Arizona and New York City, where she lives with husband Michael Feldman and their two kids, Vale and Charley.

Savannah Guthrie was forced to leave TODAY mid-show on Wednesday, May 6

After Easter weekend in April, she returned to the show (which was being hosted by a slew of rotating co-anchors, including Hoda Kotb), and has found her footing back ever since.

Early exit

On the latest iteration of the show, Wednesday, May 6, however, the anchor had to duck out of the show early, with her co-host Craig Melvin sharing the news with audiences and fans out on the TODAY Plaza 90 minutes into the main morning hours.

"Savannah had to leave a little early," he stated. "She'll be right back tomorrow, though." No explanation was provided, with another likely scenario involving errands related to her kids (a majority of the TODAY anchors are parents as well). Though there are also reports that suggest NBC has a shorthand code to assist in pulling Savannah off the air if there were developments in her mom's case.

The Nancy Guthrie case

Three months into Nancy's disappearance, the Pima County Sheriff's Department shared a statement with HELLO! expanding upon the current status of the investigation.

A spokesperson for the department said: "The Pima County Sheriff's Department remains fully committed to the investigation into Nancy Guthrie's disappearance."

Investigations into her mom Nancy Guthrie's disappearance continue

"This is an active and ongoing investigation, and we continue to work closely with our partners at the FBI," it added, emphasizing the current focus on DNA and analysis of footage. "DNA and video analysis are underway, supported by laboratories across the country. Advances in technology are aiding investigative efforts, and tips continue to be received and reviewed."

They once again highlighted the call for further information from the public, especially in the form of tips, which have now gone into the thousands. "We appreciate those who have come forward and urge anyone with credible, actionable information to contact investigators. Even small details may be significant."

"I'm so sorry mommy"

Savannah has shied away from sharing many updates on her mom's case since coming back to TODAY, presumably so as to devote more time to her return to work and let the investigation continue on.

"To think that I brought this to her bedside. That it's because of me, and I just say, 'I'm so sorry mommy.'"

Prior to her comeback, she sat down with Hoda for an extensive and emotional interview involving the disappearance, in which she said through tears: "To think that I brought this to her bedside. That it's because of me, and I just say, 'I'm so sorry mommy. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry to my sister and my brother and my kids and my nephew and Tommy, my brother-in-law. I'm just so sorry. I'm so sorry if it is me, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.'"
