For a professional gossip, Perez Hilton has been surprisingly secretive about the biggest milestone in his personal life - becoming a father. But now the celebrity blogger has shared intimate snaps of his adorable baby son, Mario Armando Lavandeira III, for his fans to see. In February, Perez, 34, shocked followers when he revealed he had become a first-time father via a surrogate. "I am ready to announce that earlier this month I was blessed with the birth of my first child, a beautiful and healthy baby boy - with lots of hair on his tiny head!," he wrote on his website. The surprise announcement was accompanied with a photo of the proud papa cradling his tiny newborn, barely visible under his blanket and hat.
Now, with his child a little over a month old, Perez has posted a series of beautiful photos of baby Mario, showing him doting over his tiny son and some taken with the star's own mother Teresita. It seems fatherhood has had a big impact of the blogger that Hollywood loves to hate. He recently told the LA Times that says he is taking a new approach to his work, toning down his nastiness as he seeks 'good energy' for his baby boy. "I don't have to give people nasty nicknames anymore," he said. "I don't have to say people are stupid, or people are fat, or people are ugly. I don't need to draw inappropriate things on photos or 'out' people. I can still be sassy and fun and do my job.""I ended up becoming someone I didn't want to be," he said of his online persona. "…I feel like it spiraled out of control. "The blogger also revealed details surrounding the birth of his son, who arrived a month prematurely. According to the openly gay star, he was walking to the Staples Center to see a Pink concert on 16 February when he had a panicked call from the surrogate saying her waters had broken, despite the fact the baby wasn't due until 16 March.
He revealed he took a flight out the next morning with his sister and mother - only to arrive at the wrong hospital. Certain he would miss the birth, he finally arrived at the right place, and three hours later his child was born weighing 5lbs, 9oz. "He waited for Daddy," the proud father commented.
Perez also revealed he is forgoing a traditional christening for his son, instead hosting a blessing ceremony. "I'll have everybody write down little positive thoughts and intentions and well wishes and keep them all in a box of good energy in his room," he said.
