Oscar-winning actor Robert Duvall has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The 72-year-old performer, who has appeared in such films as The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, received the 2,236th star on Los Angeles' most famous boulevard.
"It's a privilege for me to work as a professional actor," he told a crowd of fans outside the Kodak Theatre. "I am very proud of that, and I've still got a lot in me."
And Billy Bob Thornton, who also came along for the unveiling, was eager to praise the man he described as "my hero and mentor". "He is the greatest actor that I have been around and has inspired me in everything I have done," declared the 48-year-old.
Since his movie debut in 1962's To Kill A Mockingbird, Robert has become one of Hollywood's most revered character actors. In 1983 he won an Academy Award for his portrayal of a burned out country singer in Tender Mercies.
The veteran actor's latest flick sees him starring opposite Sir Michael Caine in Secondhand Lions. They play a pair of Texan brothers who reluctantly agree to look after their introverted nephew, played by Hailey Joel Osment.
