Why we're excited for Alexander McQueen's 'Savage Beauty' to come to London

October 14, 2014

Alexander McQueen was truly one of the greatest fashion design talents the UK has ever produced, and it seems fitting that in 2015 his amazing work will be showcased in his beloved hometown of London. The Victoria & Albert museum will be hosting the exhibition 'Savage Beauty', previously held at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, in May of next year – and we can't wait.

Alexander McQueen was known for his dramatic and edgy catwalk shows

Alexander’s fashion shows were always the most talked about at fashion week, providing attendees with some of the most memorable catwalk moments ever – who could forget when Shalom Harlow was sprayed by robots, or when Kate Moss was immortalised by technology? For those who may not have been lucky enough to attend one of these infamous shows, we are hoping that this exhibition will bring to life his beautiful designs.

Over 200 of the designer's creations will be displayed in the Savage Beauty exhibition

With an eye watering 200 McQueen pieces on display, it will undoubtedly be an absolute spectacle. The London version of the exhibition is to be bigger and better than New York’s – with many of his friends and clients loaning from their personal collections, and an extra section wholly based around the work he did in London. Alexander often spoke of the V&A as being such a treasure of the UK; therefore the historic building appears to be the perfect host for one of the most hotly anticipated fashion exhibitions of the last few years.
