X Factor beats Strictly Come Dancing in the style stakes

December 1, 2014

The X Factor has beaten TV ratings rival Strictly Come Dancing in the style stakes this weekend. The singing competition generated 81 per cent of the total fashion interest this week, a recent study by Style on Screen has revealed.

With the X Factor judges' outfits garnering as much attention as the contestants' performances, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Melanie Brown have not disappointed

Cheryl topped the polls with 59.6 per cent of the interest this weekend in her dazzling Monique Lhuillier gown, which she accessorised with statement 'rose petal' jewellery by Noa Fine, and a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Meanwhile, former Spice Girl Mel B upped the style stakes in a striking floor-length black and orange J Mendel dress, taking 21.5 per cent of fashion interest. The mother-of-three added some extra edge to her outfit and wore her hair down in a sleek, slicked back bob, completing the ensemble with some gold jewellery.

Over on Strictly Come Dancing, while the focus was mostly on the constestants' dazzling and embellished ensembles, presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman proved they were fashion forces to be reckoned with in elegant high fashion gowns.

Claudia wowed in a black strapless Roland Mouret midi dress, taking 14.2 per cent of the vote, while Tess looked chic in a black Suzanne Neville gown, taking fourth place with 4.7 per cent of the vote.
