The Mulberry cerise coat that the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, wore during her day of engagements in New York has sold out. The pregnant royal donned the double breasted item, made of wool, silk and crepe, to pay her respects at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum on Tuesday.

Amid the dreary wind and rain, Kate lit up her surroundings in the vibrantly coloured winter piece as she attended the moving event with her husband Prince William. British fashion house Mulberry had predicted that the £1,500 coat would fly off the shelves following Kate's appearance, and within hours, it was no longer available to buy online.

Described as having a reassuringly classic silhouette, the coat concealed the Duchess' growing baby bump while also protecting her from the harsh New York chill. Style icon Kate wore a classic, black dress from one of her favourite maternity brands Séraphine, and completed her look with a simple black Mulberry clutch and a pair of Kiki McDonough green amethyst diamond cushion drop earrings.

The Vanessa dress – priced at £63 – featured long sleeves, a demure turtle neck and a curved empire waist, and fell just above Kate's knee.
Branded as easy-to-wear, the label is not only loved by the pregnant royal but celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba and Claudia Schiffer.
