And the 35-year-old had already caught fans' attention ahead of the ceremony, with a series of photos on her Instagram giving a step-by-step sneak peek of how she got ready throughout the day for the big event.

Kate made sure to spend some quality time with her three-year-old son Bingham at breakfast, before revealing that she left ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy on 'Daddy Duty' so she could go and get ready, in a sweet snap of Matt and their son relaxing together on an armchair. The American beauty then proceeded to share photos throughout the day as she got ready, including fitting in ten minutes of meditation, and taking a short break from her beauty routine to turn on the television and watch her favourite American football team compete in the play-offs. The Los Angeles born star, who won a Golden Globe herself in 2001 for her role in Almost Famous, also gave fans a sneak peek of the beauty products she chose, from face creams to moisturisers. Kate also revealed that for the evening she wore Essie nail polish in the 'Topless & Barefoot' shade. Kate finished off the series of playful snaps with a photo of herself behind-the-scenes waiting to go on stage at the Golden Globes, where she presented an award.
