Michelle Obama wows in series of chic outfits during trip to India

First Lady Michelle Obama is renowned for her chic style, and the 51-year-old did not disappoint as she accompanied President Barack Obama on a recent state visit to India. Michelle won praise from fashionistas with her series of chic dresses as she stepped out for various engagements throughout the three-day visit.

The first lady had fashionistas coveting her outfits from the moment she and Barack landed in New Delhi on Sunday, as they stepped off the plane to greet Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi. Wearing a chic blue floral shift dress with black-and-white print, Michelle was quickly praised by fans for championing Indian fashion after it emerged that her elegant ensemble was created by Indian designer Bibhu Mohapatra. Although it is not the first time that the style icon has worn Bibhu's creations, the designer revealed that he felt particular pride at seeing her wear his designs in his home country. "I feel like I now have come full circle," he told WWD. "With Michelle Obama arriving in my homeland in clothes designed by me."

Later that evening, Michelle once again upped the style stakes for a state dinner with the Indian president and prime minister. The mother-of-two showed off her high fashion style credentials in a navy brocade Carolina Herrera dress which featured three-quarter length sleeves, completing the look with a pair of gold shoes.

The next morning the Chicago-born beauty once again saw jaws dropping to the floor after she stepped out in stunning white embellished dress with a matching cropped jacket, as she and Barack met with President Pranab Mukherjee at the At-Home reception on the occasion of Republic Day. Tuesday saw the couple's visit coming to an end, but Michelle still had fashionistas coveting the outfit she wore as President Obama gave a talk, and later for when she prepared to board Air Force One. The First Lady wowed in a navy blue patterned knee-length dress with a belted waist as she and President Barack folded their hands in a traditional Indian greeting gesture to say goodbye.
