Queen Letizia of Spain was the epitome of chic as she stepped out for an official engagement on Thursday night. The royal rocked a fitted black tuxedo that showed off her slender physique, accessorising with patent burgundy court heels and dazzling diamond earrings. But her outfit wasn't the only head-turning aspect of her appearance – the 42-year-old was sporting a bold red lip and stunning updo.
The royal stunned with her chic beauty look
The intricate hairstyle featured side plaits that worked their way into a chic chignon at the nape of her neck. Letizia was attending the 1st International Symposium on Skin Cancer at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid, accompanied by her husband King Felipe VI. At the end of last year, the Spanish beauty revealed a chic new shoulder-length hairstyle, marking a departure from her long tresses.

The mother-of-two showed off her new look at a Meeting with the Board of the Prince of Girona Foundation at the Royal Palace in Madrid. Wearing a monochrome printed dress and a smart black blazer, Letizia looked the picture of elegance as she joined her husband of ten years to receive their guests. In June Spain's leader of 39 years King Juan Carlos, announced his abdication in favour of Felipe. Felipe, Letizia and their two daughters Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia took part in a magnificent inauguration ceremony on 14 June 2014, which saw scores of Spaniards take to the streets of Madrid to celebrate their new monarch.
Friday marks Felipe's birthday. The King of Spain turns 47 today, and the couple are likely to celebrate with a romantic trip to the cinema or a candlelit dinner in one of their many favourite restaurants in Madrid.
The pair are known to take time out for themselves, often enjoying dates in the Spanish capital. Last year, they were spotted making a trip to the cinema in casual clothing.
