Natalie Portman is the world's most stylish runaway bride in the new video for Dior's iconic fragrance Miss Dior. The 33-year-old makes the ultimate getaway involving a pale grey helicopter emblazoned with the French fashion house's logo.
Natalie Portman is the ultimate runaway bride in the new Miss Dior film
In the opening scene of the short clip, Natalie is seen opening the door and correcting a doorman who calls her Madame. "It's Miss actually," she says, a quirky reference to the perfume. The Star Wars actress is then seen making her way down the aisle at a French Riviera venue wearing a striking Dior bridal couture gown, before changing her mind about the nuptials as she reaches her groom.
Suddenly kicking off her heeled her shoes and running off barefoot, Natalie ditches the couture dress in a nearby field and runs off to be picked up in a helicopter by her lover as they head to Paris in the sunset, to the music of Janis Joplin's Piece of My Heart.
More than 600 hours of work went into creating Natalie's bridal gown, a Dior representative revealed to People magazine. Handmade by the brand's master tailors in their Paris atelier, the beautiful dress features hundreds of applique flowers in pink and white for an ombré effect. It's not the first time that the American beauty has starred in a campaign for Miss Dior – she has been a brand ambassador for the fragrance since 2010.
"Natalie Portman was fantastic," the film's director Anton Corbijn told Vogue. "She is real, she's genuine. You can see it on the screen, and people relate to it." "I think that this 'truth' is more important than beauty," he continued. "Being a beautiful woman is not enough. She's a real person, a good person, and her personality makes the difference."
