Nicholas Kirkwood, Jimmy Choo, Charlotte Olympia, Salvatore Ferragamo, Stuart Weitzman, Paul Andre, Alexandre Birman, Rene Caovilla and Jerome Rousseau have each designed their own version of Cinderella's slippers, creating a collection that sees everything from transparent Perspex heels to glittering peep toe boots. "I think every girl desires a Cinderella moment in their lives," said Jimmy Choo's creative director Sandra Choi. "This story ignites a love affair and fascination with shoes that never dies. The power they have to transform is instilled from a young age and the fantasy remains alive forever." "Cinderella's glass slipper represents every woman's dream shoe," added designer Paul Andrew, whose take on the shoe involves stiletto heels encrusted with Swarovski crystals.Swarovski created the iconic glass slipper in the live action film, which sees a cast of Hollywood A-listers including Cate Blanchett, Lily James and Helena Bonham Carter.
Walt Disney Studio's Cinderella will be in UK cinemas from 27 March
"Cinderella’s glass slipper has become a magical symbol of transformation," said David Lee, Footwear Director at Disney EMEA. "Each pair of shoes in this exciting global collection captures Cinderella’s elegance and grace through the lens of celebrated designers, making this shoe collection truly fit for a princess." The collection of shoes will be revealed together for the first time in the Cinderella Exhibit at the Berlin Film Festival on Friday, and will later be available to order from stores including London's Harrods. "Cinderella has both delicate and strong qualities as a character," said Nicolas Kirkwood. "The moment of transformation emphasises both and gave me the design inspiration to create a piece that spoke to the film's magic."
