Dolce & Gabbana has a long history of celebrating family with its ad campaigns. And the Italian fashion house's latest Milan Fashion Week show was an ode to mothers everywhere. Entitled 'Viva la mamma', the brand's autumn/winter collection presentation resembled a live family portrait as an army of model mums took to the runway with their little ones.
Dolce & Gabbana brought a family feel to fashion week with their motherhood-themed show
To the soundtrack of the Spice Girls' 1996 hit Mama, three models carried babies and one little girl walked the catwalk matching her mum in a printed shift dress. One model was six months pregnant. Even the backdrop echoed the theme, with the back of the catwalk emblazoned with 'mamma'.

The theme carried over into the collection, with roses and the words 'Mama', 'Amore' and 'I love you mama' in English, French and Italian scribbled onto shift dresses and sequin skirts. This also gave a nod to Angelina Jolie's famous Valentino wedding dress, which bore the doodles of her six children. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana took to the runway to take their bow at the end of the show, surrounded by children and their mothers.

The designers stayed true to their signature aesthetic, with lace pencil dresses, camisoles and cardigans in a colour palette of black, white, red and gold.
