The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton was radiant as she joined husband Prince William and the Queen for the annual Commonwealth Observance service on Monday afternoon. The expectant royal, who is preparing to give birth to her and William's second baby next month, showed off her baby bump in a pale pink coat by Alexander McQueen, which she teamed with a matching Jane Taylor hat.

For accessories, Kate chose a pair of pale pink heels to complement her outfit, and a matching box clutch bag. Her jewellery was kept to a minimum save for her sparkling engagement ring and a pair of dazzling statement earrings. The pregnant Duchess wore her glossy brunette locks in a half updo for the day, with the rest of her hair cascading down in waves. When it came to make-up Kate chose a smokey eye and pale nude lipgloss for a chic yet casual look.

This is not the first time the elegant royal has worn the pastel-coloured coat as part of her maternity wardrobe. In 2013 she was spotted in the chic ensemble as she joined Prince William at Trooping the Colour, while she was pregnant with Prince George.

Last year William and Kate were unable to attend the Commonwealth Observance service in Westminster Abbey, as they were said to be enjoying a sunny break in the Maldives. This year however they confirmed their attendance via Kensington Palace, joining the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. As head of the Commonwealth, the Queen's Commonwealth Day Message is broadcast throughout the Abbey and later to all of the Commonwealth Nations. The theme of her speech this year is "A Young Commonwealth" – underlining the fact that people aged 29 or under account for the majority of the Commonwealth's population.
