Fans of Marc by Marc Jacobs will be disappointed to hear that the designer's diffusion line is reportedly being discontinued. WWD reports that the label will be absorbed into Marc Jacobs' main eponymous line for one unified collection at future Fashion Weeks.

Marc by Marc Jacobs is reportedly being discontinued

Ever since it launched in spring 2001, Marc by Marc Jacobs has gained a strong celebrity fan base. Victoria Beckham, Blake Lively, Alexa Chung, Taylor Swift, Nicole Richie and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are just some of the stars who repeatedly sport accessories and clothing from the brand. Fashionistas around the world have also praised the label because of its more affordable pricing compared to other high fashion brands.

Design duo Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley are currently Design Director and Creative Director of the label, however their roles following the discontinuation of the line have yet to be confirmed. The pair joined Marc by Marc Jacobs in 2013, marking the first time anyone other the designer himself had creative control over the brand, although Marc continued to design for his main line. Marc Jacobs' catwalk shows for both labels are the two of the most anticipated presentations every New York Fashion Week, and have seen the likes of Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss storming the runway in the designer's quirky and tailored creations. Meanwhile, his quirky campaigns, often shot by legendary photographer Juergen Teller, have seen everyone from Miley Cyrus to Dakota Fanning posing for the brand, both for his fragrances and womenswear lines. Marc also shares a close relationship with Victoria Beckham, who showed off her playful side for one of his campaigns when she posed in an oversized shopping bag.
