James Corden to host this year's CFDA awards

April 2, 2015

James Corden has been winning over audiences as the new host of The Late, Late Show, and now the 36-year-old presenter is set to conquer the fashion industry. The British comedian has been announced as the host of this year's prestigious CFDA awards, set to take place in June.

"The fashion crowd in for a real treat," CFDA captioned a photo of James on their Instagram. "The host of the 2015 #CFDAAwards is… James Corden! @jkcorden." The former Gavin and Stacey star is no stranger to the world of fashion and has close relationships with some of the industry's biggest names. Not only was he invited to Tom Ford's dazzling show during Fashion Week in February, but he is also close friends with iconic editor Anna Wintour. "I love her," he told Heat magazine. "When I was doing a play in New York, we used to go for lunch every month. I'd say I speak to her fairly frequently. I just really, really like her and we get on very well."

James, who received an OBE for his service to entertainment and TV earlier this year, joins a line-up of previous hosts including Seth Meyers, Andy Cohen and John Waters. This year's awards will see Happy hitmaker Pharrell Williams honoured with the fashion icon award, whilst designers including Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Alexander Wang, Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs are all nominated for different categories.

The father-of-two, who welcomed his second child with wife Julia in October, has been enjoying a successful start as the host of The Late, Late Show, where he has taken over from Craig Ferguson. His sketches, including recreating all of Tom Hank's films with the actor and creating a fake underwear advert with handsome footballer David Beckham, have seen him quickly win over the American public.
