Amal Clooney is embracing spring in New York, rocking a more colourful wardrobe as temperatures rise in the Big Apple. The 37-year-old looked effortlessly elegant as she headed to run errands in downtown New York on Tuesday.

The human rights lawyer, who is married to movie star George Clooney, opted for a sleeveless orange silk blouse by Gucci, with a python contrast collar. She paired the colourful top with a chic camel pencil skirt featuring a belted waist. As always, Amal's accessories were spot on – the Lebanese-British beauty completed the look with a pair of nude court shoes with cut-out detail, and carried her essentials in a black leather handbag with a gold clasp. Making the most of the sunshine, Amal also wore a pair of cat eye grey sunglasses. Her glossy black locks were left down in loose curls for a touch of daytime glamour, and she wore almost no make-up, letting her natural beauty shine through.

Amal and George are set to be based in New York for the foreseeable future. George, 53, is busy filming his new movie Money Monster in the bustling city, whilst Amal recently announced that she is joining Columbia University this spring as a visiting faculty member and as a senior fellow with the law school's Human Rights Institute. "It is an honour to be invited as a visiting professor at Columbia Law School alongside such a distinguished faculty and talented student pool," Amal said in an official statement. "I look forward to getting to know the next generation of human rights advocates studying here." George recently spoke lovingly about his wife of five months – who he described as "the smart one". "I'm very happy. It's exciting," he said of married life, as he stepped out solo for the SeriousFun Children's Network's New York Gala last week. "I really love my wife, I'm having a great time and I'm very proud of her. I couldn't be more proud of the things she does."
