Sarah Jessica Parker's shoe collection has seen ever-growing success since it launched in February 2014, but the star has revealed that she initially had reservations about using her own name for the line, SJP collection. Speaking at a gala celebrating the top 50 women in brand marketing on Tuesday, the 50-year-old star admitted she had taken some convincing as she created her brand.

Sarah Jessica Parker revealed she was reluctant to use her name for her shoe collection

"I begged everybody [not to call it that], but Nordstrom thought it was the right thing to do," she admitted to Instyle Editorial Director Ariel Foxman. "It embarrassed me. I actually didn't like it, but they talked me into it."

It comes as no surprise that the mother-of-three was asked to talk at the brand marketing event. First catapulted to worldwide fame when she starred as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, she has since gone on to build an empire – not only does she have a successful acting career and a popular shoe collection that has seen her collaborate with fashion houses such as Tome, but her new TV series Divorce has recently been picked up by HBO.

Alongside being catapulted to style icon status with her effortlessly elegant and high fashion ensembles, Sarah Jessica has firmly established herself as a well-respected force in the fashion industry.

"Not only is she an actor that we respect and a woman that we respect, she has this incredible fashion legacy as well, and now the shoe line," said Tome's Ryan Lobo when talking about their collaboration.

"She's so much like all of the women who have influenced our collection, when you talk about dedication and work ethic, you know, you have three kids, you have a film career, and now you have a shoe collection, like what? Who has the time?"
