Style blogger and Piyali Learning Centre sponsor Bip Ling has partnered with ethical fashion pioneers People Tree to raise funds for a holistic education centre for 200 schoolgirls in Kolkata, India. In this behind-the-scenes video Bip heads back to the education centre to catch up with some of the students, and shares why this cause is particularly important to her.
"I'm half Bengali so it seemed like a natural project to jump aboard," she told HFM exclusively. "My mother [artist Tanya Ling] was born in Kolkata and my grandparents are there now so I try to go as much as I can.
"It's so different from here. Sadly it's a poor country and that means not everyone there is educated. My grandparents introduced me to the Piyali school a few years ago and once I saw what they were doing for the girls, I ended up sponsoring some of them and making a documentary about the centre."
