Victoria Beckham would rather Harper 'go into fashion than be in a pop group'

Victoria Beckham has revealed that she would prefer for daughter Harper to pursue a career in fashion rather than the music industry. The 41-year-old, who is married to footballer David Beckham, opened up about her hopes for the youngest of her four children during a talk at London's Victoria & Albert Museum on Tuesday.

Victoria Beckham told David she hopes 'one of our children' will go into fashion

"I would rather her go into fashion than be in a pop group I have to say," she told Vogue's Suzy Menkes. "But I did have fun doing that."

During the talk husband David, who was at the event supporting his wife, reportedly asked the style icon what she would say if their daughter wanted to become a fashion designer, with Victoria admitting she would "love one of our children" to go into the industry.

"Harper loves putting on my high heels and playing with my make-up," she replied. "But she also has football boots and she runs around in the garden with her brothers.

The former Spice Girl famously moved from pop star to fashion designer

"So I am not sure whether she will follow what you do or what I do, but I think what everyone wants for their kids is just for them to be happy, whatever that means they do."

There's no doubt that fashion is a big part of little Harper's life – she repeatedly turns heads in her adorable outfits whether she's joining her mum at a launch party or sitting front row at Burberry with David and her brothers Brooklyn, Cruz and Romeo, alongside iconic editor Anna Wintour. The youngest Beckham is also becoming a style icon in her own right - when Victoria donated some of Harper's clothes for charity, fans began queueing four hours before the store had even opened.

Victoria is clearly happiest in the style world after leaving pop behind. She conquered the industry after a stint as one-fifth of girl supergroup Spice Girls, which first catapulted her to global fame.

Since then, not only has she firmly established herself as a well-respected designer, but the British beauty went on to build an empire worth £30.9million by 2014.
