Victoria Beckham has admitted that her adorable daughter Harper gave her some news that felt like "a dagger through the heart". The 41-year-old revealed that the four-year-old told her she wants "to play football", rather than pursuing fashion as Victoria had hoped.
Victoria Beckham wowed on Monday in a navy blue dress
"She loves fashion, you know, as little girls do… but she loves sports," the fashion designer told Good Morning America after her New York Fashion Week show. "She said to me the other day, 'Mummy, I think I want to play football'."
"Dagger through the heart!" Victoria joked. "I have three boys that want to play football. You know, come on, let one of them want to be into fashion or dance."
"I would rather her go into fashion than be in a pop group I have to say," she previously told Vogue's Suzy Menkes. "But I did have fun doing that."
Victoria revealed that Harper's news was a "dagger through the heart"
When husband and sports legend David Beckham joined in the discussion and asked if she would like Harper to go into fashion design, the star revealed that she just wants her children "to be happy, whatever that means they do".
"Harper loves putting on my high heels and playing with my make-up," she revealed. "But she also has football boots and she runs around in the garden with her brothers.
"So I am not sure whether she will follow what you do or what I do, but I think what everyone wants for their kids is just for them to be happy, whatever that means they do."
Whether or not her little girl changes her mind, there's no doubt that Victoria is leaving her a fashionable legacy. One of the world's biggest style icons, she once again showed off her fashion-forward style credentials on Monday, ditching her trademark minimalist all-black ensembles in favour of a striking blue dress, accessorising with a large belt and a pair of her beloved stilettos.
