Disney star Zendaya topped best-dressed lists at the 2015 Oscars in her beautiful Vivienne Westwood gown – and now Barbie are paying homage to her iconic look. The doll makers are honouring the 19-year-old singer with a one-of-a-kind doll to look exactly like her.

The news comes ahead of Barbie's Rock'n'Royals concert set to be held at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday, which will be hosted by Zendaya.

"I'm excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices," the Beat of my Drum singer said in a statement. "It's a positive message to send to my fans, including my nieces who are coming with me to the concert."

Barbie also shared a photo of the sketch of Zendaya's look from doll designer Carlyle Nuera on their official Instagram, alongside a note to the singer from the team. "Thank you for raising your voice – the Barbie team," they wrote.

"We are so excited to honor @Zendaya with this one-of-a-kind doll as she encourages girls to Raise Their Voices and inspires us to #BeSuper. ✨ Be sure to join her at the Rock ’n Royals concert at the @hollywoodpalladium on 9/26! Speaking about the project, Zendaya admitted to Yahoo that she didn't have a Barbie doll that looked like her growing up, so she "couldn't connect with the doll in that way", but admitted she was extremely excited when she was first approached.

"[But] getting to visit the Mattel offices and see Barbie’s vision for the future… it was really cool," she said. "I was able to see how they plan to diversify, broadening the horizons and the image of Barbie, and make it more, you know, open. I left the office feeling it was definitely something I wanted to be a part of."
