With her global fame Katie Holmes is bound to get attention when she's out and about, but the star particularly turned heads as she rode the New York Subway on Thursday night. Proving she is no diva, the 36-year-old was clad in an elegant ballgown and heels as she hit the Big Apple's public transport system.
Katie Holmes' floor-length ballgown didn't stop her from getting the train
The Dawson's Creek actress shared a photo of her escapades on Instagram, in a snap that shows her about to board a train. "Heels and a train… nothing better #newyork #pennstation," she captioned the quirky image.
Katie was as radiant as ever in the striking red strapless dress, which she teamed with a pair of matching red court heels. The Batman Begins actress, who is currently the global ambassador for beauty giant Olay, wore her brunette hair swept off her face into a chic updo, and kept her make-up simple save for a hint of black eyeliner and mascara.
The star has previously spoken about how she chooses her make-up looks for red carpet appearances or glitzy bashes. "When I choose something really colourful or patterned to wear, I have to choose a beauty look that doesn’t distract or feel like it is competing with what I’m wearing," she told HELLO! Fashion exclusively.
Victoria Beckham also turned heads on public transport last year
Katie is not the first A-lister who has been spotted taking public transport for a stylish event. Victoria Beckham delighted fans when she revealed she was on a train to Manchester, in a snap shared on her Twitter page. The 41-year-old fashion designer was heading to one of Britain's largest cities to debut her collection in department store Selfridges.
Showing off her sense of humour, the mother-of-four later tweeted a picture showing herself surrounded by luggage and garment bags, standing on the platform as she arrived in Manchester. "Which way to Manchester Selfridge?" she quipped in the caption.
