Victoria Beckham famously made the transition from pop star to fashion designer, and now the 41-year-old has revealed why she made the decision. The mother-of-four, who launched her eponymous line in 2008, confessed she "didn’t do it to prove anything to anyone".

"I just started doing what I'd always hoped to do," she told the German edition of Vogue. "Fashion has been my passion since forever. I didn't do it to prove anything to anyone besides myself."
There's no doubt that Victoria has been successful in her endeavours. Not only do celebrities from Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to Sienna Miller regularly wear her designs, but the former Spice Girls singer's empire is worth millions and saw the launch of her first flagship store on London's trendy Dover Street just last year.
Renowned for her chic and minimalist style, the star has worked hard to carry this through to her collections, with the industry repeatedly praising her as she unveils her ranges during New York Fashion Week. Victoria confessed that before she launched into the world of fashion, she already had an idea of what she wanted to create.

"I simply wanted to create the perfect dress," she explained. "Something that was easy to wear, that you didn't have to think about for long. You can depend on my dress, you get into it, pull the zipper up, and you're ready to go out."
She added: "My customers like that. What I do is real, organic, true to who I am."
Even away from the catwalk, Victoria's effortlessly cool style has her family and friends clambering for her style advice. Husband David Beckham recently admitted that he rarely leaves the house without getting his wife to check his outfit.

"I trust her more than I trust my judgement!" he said. "I've never turned around to her and said, 'you don't look good in that; change.' Frankly, it's hard—very, very hard—for Victoria to look bad in anything.
"But there are definitely times when I've worn things and she's said, 'Nice try, go back upstairs'."
