She may only be 19 years old, but Zendaya is already becoming a force to be reckoned with. The Disney star has spoken out on social media after spotting that a magazine had photoshopped an image of herself. "Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19-year-old hips and torso quite manipulated," she said about the images in Modeliste magazine.
Zendaya called out the magazine for retouching her curves
"These are the things that make women self-conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. "So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it. Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue. "Zendaya's statements follow an incident earlier this year when she hit back at E!'s Fashion Police host Guiliana Rancic for making an "outrageously offensive" remark at the Oscars.
It's been quite the year for Zendaya
After seeing Zendaya rocking dreadlocks on the red carpet, Guiliana said: "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed. Maybe weed?"Zendaya took to Twitter to reply to the comment. "There is already harsh criticism of African Amercian hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair. My wearing my hairs in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of colour that our hair is good enough. "Shortly after, Zendaya celebrated #BlackOutDay by posting a photo of herself with her natural hair on Instagram.
