Dolce & Gabbana co-founder Stefano Gabbana has become the latest major fashion designer to address the topic of dressing Melania Trump. The Italian designer proudly described the future First Lady as a "DG Woman" as he shared a photo of her wearing a dress from his label on Instagram on Monday.

The photo, taken from Melania and Donald Trump's New Year's Eve celebrations, showed the 46-year-old smiling while wearing a £2,588 black Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dress with embellished bow detail.

WHAT DESIGNERS WILL MELANIA TRUMP WEAR AS FIRST LADY?

Melania appears to be a big fan of the label, and was seen wearing Dolce & Gabbana in the days leading up to the US Presidential election in November. She has also been spotted in stylish looks from the likes of Roland Mouret, Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors.

However the former model has received some criticism from some fashion designers, including Marc Jacobs and Sophie Theallet, who have both refused to dress her.

A number of designers have joined the debate over dressing Melania

Speaking to WWD, Marc admitted: "I have no interest whatsoever in dressing Melania Trump. I didn't see [Sophie Theallet's] letter. Personally, I'd rather put my energy into helping out those who will be hurt by [Donald] Trump and his supporters."

MELANIA TRUMP'S BEST FASHION MOMENTS

Tommy Hilfiger has spoken out in support of Melania, telling WWD he doesn't think fashion designers should be swayed by politics.

"I think Melania is a very beautiful woman, and I think any designer should be proud to dress her," Tommy said. "Ivanka [Trump] is equally as beautiful and smart, although she wears her own clothes. I don't think people should become political about it."
